OUR POST WORKOUT RECOVERY RITUALS.

What you do post exercise is often just as important as the workout itself! Proper exercise recovery is not only essential to optimise your performance & prevent injuries, but it also helps to promote overall health & well-being.

So we are here to share some of our top tips, to help you recover safely & effectively after a HUSTL workout.

COOL DOWN & STRETCH.

After your workout, aim to gradually lower your intensity and engage in 5-10 minutes of light aerobic exercise, followed by stretching. This helps reduce muscle tension and gradually lowers your heart rate.

HYDRATE.
Never underestimate the power of water! Make sure you rehydrate by drinking water throughout your workout in small doses, and ensure you replenish adequately post workout too. Proper hydration not only aids in muscle function, but it also helps digestion and overall recovery.

DIET & NUTRITION.
Post workout it is important to focus on getting adequate amounts of: protein, carbohydrates & healthy fats.

Protein: Protein helps repair and build muscle tissues, which is essential post workout. Aim to consume a protein-rich meal or snack after your workout, such as eggs on toast with avocado, a protein smoothie or an overnight chia pudding.

Carbohydrates: Carbs post workout should be your best friend! By consuming complex carbohydrates you will be replenishing glycogen stores in your muscles, that will consequently provide energy for your next workout. Some of our top picks include oats, bread, rice or sweet potatoes.
Healthy Fats: Lastly, aim to include healthy fats within your meals, which will support joint health and hormone production. We love chia seeds, avocado, salmon, nuts & eggs!

REST & SLEEP.
Rest is SO important, we cannot stress this enough! If you don’t allow your body enough time to repair & recover, this will simply cause injuries down the track and it will most likely prevent you from reaching your goals. Sleep is also crucial for muscle recovery, as well as hormone regulation, and overall well-being. Aim for 7 - 9 hours of quality sleep each night, if you can!

MAGNESIUM.
Last, but certainly not least - magnesium.

Magnesium is a powerhouse mineral that works wonders for muscle recovery & overall exercise performance. Magnesium helps regulate the balance of calcium and potassium ions within muscle cells and this balance is crucial for proper muscle contraction and relaxation. Adequate magnesium levels can prevent excessive muscle contractions and reduce the likelihood of muscle cramps and spasms, promoting overall muscle comfort and recovery.
